Quantity Surveying Expert Witness

Chartered Quantity Surveyor Expert Witness

Expert Services International provides independent expert witness services from a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over twenty-five years of experience in construction and infrastructure disputes. Our practice is built upon the rigorous application of quantity surveying principles to the preparation of expert evidence — ensuring that opinions on cost, valuation and quantum are grounded in recognised professional methodology and withstand scrutiny under cross-examination.

Our principal, Neil Kirkpatrick, is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in providing expert evidence across courts, tribunals and international arbitrations. His qualifications in quantity surveying and construction management, combined with a Master of Laws in International Commercial Law and Fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Building, provide a multidisciplinary foundation that bridges the technical and legal dimensions of construction disputes.

We accept instructions from solicitors, barristers, parties and tribunals, and are experienced in providing quantity surveying expert witness evidence in proceedings across Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom.

The Role of the Quantity Surveyor

Why Instruct a Quantity Surveying Expert Witness

Construction disputes invariably involve complex financial issues that require professional expertise in measurement, valuation, cost analysis and contractual interpretation. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor brings to the role of expert witness a depth of practical experience in the financial management of construction projects — from tender stage through to final account — combined with the professional rigour and ethical obligations imposed by membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

The quantity surveyor's training in measurement methodology, pricing conventions, contractual valuation mechanisms and cost control systems provides a sound analytical foundation for the preparation of expert evidence on financial matters. When combined with experience in the procedural requirements governing expert evidence, this expertise enables the preparation of reports that are technically robust, methodologically transparent and presented with the clarity necessary to assist the tribunal.

Our expert witness quantity surveyor is experienced in concurrent expert evidence, joint expert conferences and the preparation of joint reports, and approaches these processes constructively while maintaining the independence of opinion that the role demands.
